The parish is situated in East Belfast on the Upper Newtownards Road at Ballyhackamore, just a mile or so from the Parliament Buildings at Stormont. The boundaries of the parish extend from the Hollywood Arches, Belfast to beyond the village of Dundonald, and from the Castlereagh Road to the CircularRoad.

St.Colmcille’s is a Catholic faith community, which is comprised of 800 families,roughly some 2600 people in total. There is one Primary school, St. Joseph’s,which has a staff of seven teachers, as well as ancillary staff, and a roll of 160 pupils. The parish also has the responsibility for thepastoral care of the patients and medical staff in the Ulster Hospital, Dundonald and the Marie Curie Centre at Knock. St. Colmcille’s Parish has endeavoured to promote good relationships with the neighbouring congregations of different denominations and was a founder member of the Belmontand District Council of Churches which was established in 1971.

The idea for this Parish Website came from the parishioners, and was developed by the Communications Committee which is a committee of St. Colmcille’s Pastoral Council.

The purpose of the Website is to give our visitors, and every member of our parish family, information about the times we celebrate the liturgy of the Church and also to inform people about the various ministries, groups and organisations in the parish; what they do, where and when they meet and whom to contact if you would like to know more about them.

The parish and its various structures are at the service of the people. Itis within the context of the parish that people experience Church, listen to God’s word and answer their call to holiness.

St.Paul in his first letter to the Christian Church in Corinth wrote, There is a variety of gifts but always the same Spirit; there are all sorts of service to be done, but always the same Lord; working in all sorts of different ways in different people, it is the same God who is working in all of them.The particular way in which the Spirit is given to each person is for a good purpose.
